Understanding Warranties

Since not all warranties are created equal, Town and Country Roofing takes time to explain the different warranties so the homeowner is informed.

Products vs Services
The purchase of a new roof for a home is a significant expense. It invoices purchasing a combination of products and services. It is very important that the homeowner understands the difference between Manufacturer Warranty (Product) and Workmanship Warranty (Service/Contractor).

Manufacturer Warranty
This warranty comes from the Manufacturer and is usually limited. In a nutshell, roofing product warranties cover you if there is a problem with your shingles due to an issue that occurred during the manufacturing process. This issue is commonly referred to as a manufacturing defect. It usually will not cover labor, tearoff, and disposal costs. Most shingles on the market are now Limited Lifetime Shingles. This means that it won’t be pro-rated until the 40-50 year mark.

Workmanship Warranty
This warranty comes from the Contractor who installs your roof. The warranty length and what the warranty covers varies from contractor to contractor. The workmanship warranty is only valid if the company is still in business.

Manufacturer Backed Workmanship Warranty
Town and Country Roofing is accredited with CertainTeed to provide 25-year workmanship warranties that are backed by CertainTeed. This means if we were to go out of business, CertainTeed would honor the workmanship warranty. This workmanship warranty covers installation issues as well as manufacturer defects. It covers labor, materials, tear-off, and disposal costs as well.
